Prime Minister, Dr. Mohammed Shtayyeh expressed pride in President Mahmoud Abbas's speech before the United Nations, and approved the reform plan presented by the government. 

During this meeting, PM, Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh expressed the Cabinet's pride in President Mahmoud Abbas's speech before the 77 session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Dr. Shtayyeh also expressed the Cabinet’s stand in support of President Mahmoud Abbas sovereignty in implementing all measures mentioned in his speech.

Prime minister said: "The President's speech represents the Palestinian conscience, summarizes the historical grievance of the Palestinian people, and re-evaluates the Palestinian narrative in terms of its human, historical, political and legal dimensions. “The President, once again, puts the ball in the court of the International Community, which is mired in double standards, and is silent about the Palestinian rights, to carry out its responsibilities towards an occupied people” he added.

The Prime Minister continued: "The time has come for us to witness International action towards protecting the Palestinian people, and holding the Occupying power accountable for its crimes, demanding the United Nations, whose convention calls for peacemaking, to envision that, and take actual steps in that direction.” 

The Prime Minister referred to the reform plan and reports submitted to donors, which showed that the unemployment rate decreased from 26% to 24%, as it became 44% in the Gaza Strip, while it decreased in the West Bank to 13.8%. Dr. Shtayyeh elaborated on donors reporting, and said that reports expect that the Palestinian economy will achieve a growth of 3.5% by the end of this year, yet spending this year remains at the level of spending in the past year, while the monetary and banking system continues to recover from the Corona pandemic, which indicates the strength of the Palestinian banking system. He also added “the donors stressed that Israel should stop piracy of funds and financial deductions from Palestinian clearance, and they also demanded that it shall grant freedom of work to the Palestinians in the so-called “C” areas, because this increases government revenues by 6% of the gross domestic product”.

The Prime Minister concluded this session by demanding Israel to respect the signed agreements, stop its systematic violations, and respect the two-state solution, he also called on the International community to continue financial and political support, to preserve the two-state solution through serious and real measures, and oblige Israel to do so.
