Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh Addresses the UNCTADv

During his speech before the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh addressed many urgent issues, including the report on the economic cost of the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

The Prime Minister stated: “According to UNCTAD's report, Palestine lost $50 billion between 2000 and 2022. Using its settlement and colonization tools, the Israeli occupation has profited at the Palestinian people's expense”.

The Prime Minister added: “Since its occupation of Palestinian territory in 1967, Israel has used a number of control mechanisms, including direct military occupation and settler colonization. Apart from expropriating Palestinian land, Israel also controls our infrastructure.”

The Prime Minister concluded: “In addition, Israel has fragmented the Palestinian territory by isolating Jerusalem, sieging Gaza, and dividing the West Bank into Area A, B, & C. To make Israel’s occupation costly, settlements must face sanctions & this report should be presented to the International Criminal Court.”
